It's Tough Coming Out
Cassie isn’t ready to come out to her conservative parents but, she desperately wants to introduce them to her amazing girlfriend, Kai. So, she convinces her brother Luke and Kai to pose as a couple for a weekend at the cottage.
The drive is lovely until they stop in the middle of nowhere to stretch their legs and change drivers. That’s when shots are heard just before the tires of their car explode. It shakes the three young people so much they call the police and then Cassie’s dad, Bill. He shows up and drives the kids to the cottage where they meet Detective Darryl Drake, a mortal enemy of Bill’s. Though Bill writes off the incident as a hunting accident, Drake is not convinced.
Cassie wants nothing more than for the weekend to just smoothly slip by but she knows her often outspoken girlfriend, Kai, won’t take shit from anyone. And, her father, an unmoving, religious, opinionated, racist would stand his ground until his throat closed. Cheryl, Cassie’s mom, would be no help since she avoids confrontation at all costs. And Luke, well he just hates being there altogether.
Cassie is adamant that she not come out to her parents, but Kai does everything in her power to change her mind. Kai lives free to be who she really is and that is what she wants for Cassie.
Coming out is no small feat. It takes courage, determination, faith in yourself and in this case, a gigantic misunderstanding. In the end Cassie is outted, but is it for the best, or is this to be the worst trip to the cottage in history?
Did she really just run over her father with the car?
